This paper intended to analyse the impact of the inflation on the capacity of crop-self-reproduction in the DIRA of Ribeirao Preto of Sao Paulo State in the 70's. This study also aimed to analyses the effects of rural credit policy and of financial application over the crop self-reproduction. To evaluate the self-reproduction we compared the revenue of an agricultural year with the production cost of the next year. We defined those comparisons as net availability index. The conclusions were that under an increasingly inflationary process all crops in this analysis were losing their capacity of being financed by themselves. There were remarkable difference in the net availability index among crops included in this study. Soybean and sugar-cane which had considerable expansion in area showed the higher net avalability index. Also, financial application and rural credit were essencial to aid the feasibility of the crop self-reproduction. Since the inflationary process reduce the self finance capacity, a public action towards the crops with lower net availability index would help those farmers and the society as whole. |
